With the introduction of the Afterburner, hand held gamers were treated to a whole new level of game play, never before enjoyed.  While virtually everyone in the gaming community agreed that the GBA was an amazing hand held console (and of course it is), one of the biggest flaws - and biggest annoyances was the lack of a back light or some external form of light that would illuminate the screen properly and enable gamers to play their GBA in all light conditions.  Afterburner for the GBA solved the problem - gamers rejoiced, finally a lighting solution that really made it possible to play all games, all the time, regardless of the lighting conditions of your surroundings.  Afterburner continues to be a very popular item.  However, many customers were set back by the amount of work involved to install this backlight internally (actually a front light).  It requires some soldering skills, along with some cutting of the original GBA case (not noticeable from the outside of the unit once completed) and the addition of a dimmer dial to enable you to turn the brightness up or down.
