Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash has a classic two dimensional game play that is inspired by early platform games. This particular title features the charismatic and charming character known as Chibi-Robo, a rather crude robot that is made of metal. As he embarks on exciting Adventures, he must collect coins or tokens that are then displayed on the simple screen menu beside a health meter bar. Chibi-Robo uses his electrical wires to fight opponents by whipping them. Additionally, the cord is useful in climbing and maneuvering through difficult terrains. The soundtrack in Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash is upbeat and nostalgic of the retro era. By solving puzzles and beating enemies in a comic mischief fashion, the little robot is able to complete missions successfully.
